Nowruz 2024: Google Doodle celebrate Persian New Year

Nowruz 2024, Google Doodle is all ready to celebrate Persian New year which is well known as Nowruz. This is celebration of arrival of spring through his artwork.

History of Nowruz 2024

Though there is no exact information about when this Nowruz festival started but many believed it started around 3000 years back in Zoroastrianism (World’s oldest monotheistic religion). This is celebrated in ancient city of Persepolis, named Achaemenid Empire which was in existence from 550 to 330 BC.
This day marks the start of spring in the Northern Hemisphere and the rebirth of the natural world. According to UNESCO, this event heralds the entrance of spring and carries deep spiritual significance, signifying the triumph of good over evil and happiness over sorrow.
The festival is well-known for emphasizing harmony, unity, and respect for diverse cultures to unite people. The International Day of Nowruz was formally recognized by the UN in 2010, which strengthened the UN’s position as a catalyst for cross-cultural dialogue and world peace. This is officially recognised in 2016 as a cultural heritage of Humanity.

What is Nowruz and where it is celebrated?

Nowruz is the Farsi word which mean “New Day” which is also known as Persian New year. This is celebrated by over 300 million people which is one of the largest celebrated festivals.

This festival is beginning of spring in Northern Hemisphere. And will be celebrated on March 20, 2024, Wednesday. Nowruz is also spelt as Nowrooz or Norooz. This is global festival, which is celebrated in the countries along the Silk Roads, including Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, India, Iran, Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. It is also celebrated in minor communities from the countries in the Americas and Europe. Many cities like Los Angeles, Toronto and London.

Celebrated on March 20, 2024, Wednesday with exact Vernal occurring at 6.36 AM in Tehran, Iran. And United states countries are celebrating this Nowruz 2024 on March 21, 2024.

Due to disparate calendar customs, India will celebrate Nowruz on two occasions in 2024. The inaugural celebration will be on March 20, 2024, which is in line with the solar Hijri calendar’s observation of Nowruz, which is observed worldwide on the spring equinox.

The Shahenshahi calendar, which does not take leap years into account, has the second celebration set for August 15, 2024. This has resulted in the Parsi community in India having the unusual custom of celebrating two New Years.

How is Nowruz 2024 celebrated?

This Nowruz 2024 is celebrated by exchanging gifts particularly among the children. Many artists are giving crafted gifts. Many are performing street dance and showing their skills like Music and traditional rituals like water sports, fire (Surrounding elegance purpose), crafting handicrafts and many traditional sports.
It is celebrated with table of seven things that start with letter S and celebrated with family by keeping seven things in the family table.
  1. Sirkeh (vinegar): Represents age and patience that often comes with ageing.
  2. Sikkeh (coin): For wealth and prosperity
  3. Seer (garlic): For good health
  4. Seeb (apples): For health and natural beauty
  5. Sabzeh (wheat): For rebirth, renewal and good fortune
  6. Samanu (wheat pudding): A sweet dessert for wealth, fertility and the sweetness of life
  7. Sumac (berries): For the sunrise and the celebration of a new day
In addition to this, the table may have candles to symbolize light and happiness, painted eggs to symbolize fertility, a goldfish to symbolize fresh life, and a mirror to symbolically reflect the previous year.

Google Doodle’s Nowruz 2024

“It’s a lively springtime festival that promotes peace, respect, kinship, and the harmony between life and nature,” according to Google Doodle’s explanation of the Persian festival. Google Doodle are making modification to Google Logo for Local and Global events which are making impact on society a lot.
These changes can be made to photos, animations, slideshows, movies, and games, among other media, to provide consumers with a range of engaging and interactive experiences.
